Gardening: Jobs to do
Stake them up
Gather up ties and stakes and secure anything that's in a state of collapse, such as tomatoes, beans and grapes.
Save for later
Learn how to dry or freeze produce that you can't eat. Slow-roasted tomatoes will keep well packed in oil, while courgettes and beans are easy to freeze. Check out old family recipe books for chutney and relish recipes.
Rotate crop
Keep planting lettuces on a weekly or fortnightly rotation depending on how much you eat. Use them when they're small and plant more.
Eat it or bin it
Pick up your windfall fruit to discourage bugs. Use it, or consign it to the compost bin.
