Wanganui’s Trafalgar Lotto outlet has been named the luckiest place to buy an Instant Kiwi ticket in the Wanganui/Rangitikei region.

There have been 133 winners of top $10,000 to $50,000 Instant Kiwi prizes in the Wanganui/Rangitiki region in the 20 years since Instant Kiwi tickets were first introduced.

Twenty-nine of those top-prize winning tickets were sold at the Trafalgar Lotto store, which also came in as ninth luckiest outlet nationwide.

The winnings equate to 1 top prize per 465 people in the New Plymouth, Stratford, South Taranaki, Wanganui and Rangitikei Districts.

In 2006 an anonymous Wanganui player won $10,000 from a $1 Pigs in Mud ticket in July 2006, bought from the Trafalgar Lotto outlet.

Instant Kiwi celebrates its 20th anniversary this month with a two collectors edition tickets, a $1 Kiwi Treasures ticket, and a gold foil $3 crossword ticket.

On average, 55 per cent of Instant Kiwi players are female, and about 1 million dollars is paid out each week in prize money.

Instant Kiwi’s total sales from September 1989 to September 2009 are over $2.3 billion.

During that time, there have been over 303 million winners, and over $872 million in prizes paid out.
