Kaitoke Prison officers Graeme Taylor (left), Trevor Olney and Ralph Visser are pictured three hours into their 25-hour non-stop row at the Kaierau Country Club yesterday, raising funds for the Cancer Society.
They hope to finish their marathon row with a world record at noon today, the society's Daffodil Day.
Olney, a former Wanganui rugby rep, said he had been training since March. Visser, 47, was making a solo attempt, aiming to reach 300,000 metres to topple the existing record by 15,000 metres.
He had a special reason to take part. His elderly mum was recovering from a major cancer operation.
