Preparing to sit their NCEA examinations starting Monday, Stacey Wyatt and Morgan Rush say their life at the moment is one long revision session.

The two 15-year-old Year 11 students at Wanganui Girls' College feel exam time has come around too quickly.

"It's hard to believe that it's all happening now... I don't know where this year has gone," Morgan said.

Stacey agreed and said she was now revising her notes every night.

"And I thought I had ages."

Stacey is sitting English, maths, sports science, biology, history and accounting.

Morgan has the same subjects with the exception of sports science and the addition of drama.

Both girls said that over the past few weeks their mums had ensured they had a quiet, peaceful place to study at home.

But they agree they don't like it too quiet when no one is home and would rather have a bit of noise in the background.

When asked if they were eating special healthy food to boost their brain power, they laughed.

"Well, not exactly, but I do eat lots of fruit," said Stacey.

Morgan said because she'd been feeling a bit nervous she made sure she ate three proper meals a day.

"Snacking is not good; you need to eat properly."

They're both ensuring they're getting plenty of sleep, even though Stacey is out of bed three mornings a week to go rowing at 5am.

Now, with just a couple of days to go, they both admit they will be relieved when the exams are over.

Then they're off to enjoy their summer holidays and not think of school again for weeks.

"That's just going to be so great," they sighed.

In Wanganui, students sitting NCEA are: Level 1, 944; Level 2, 792; Level 3, 649. There are also 99 sitting New Zealand Scholarship exams.
