A further swathe of vacant Waiouru housing is up for sale.

Potential buyers must register to view houses for sale by tender from Waiouru Military Camp.

The houses for sale and removal from Waiouru Military Camp averaged around $31,500 last time and are expected to do the same this time round, said property consultants Land Matters general manager Sam Pritchard. The company is handling the dispersal.

Most of the houses for sale are two- or three-bedroom homes.

"A lot of the people that purchase these houses are farmers, people after a holiday home and property developers," said Mr Pritchard.

The houses have been sold as the New Zealand Army has moved people out of the camp township to live at other bases.

The camp still has around 350 houses remaining in use.

Open days will be held on January 26 and February 2 from 10am to 3pm.

To register to attend an open day phone: 06 364 9144 or email: housing@landmattersnz.com.

Tenders close February 25.
