The sun shone brightly on Saturday as 100 artists turned out at the Whanganui War Memorial Hall forecourt in their painting gear to get stuck in to creating a 7.5x5m masterpiece. The Big Paint, part of the Real Whanganui Literary Festival, saw 100 artists and non-artists roll up their sleeves and put brush to canvas to recreate Leigh Mitchell-Anyon's composite photograph from pre-dawn to dusk of the Wanganui landscape, featuring the Sarjeant Gallery and Mt Ruapehu.
