Hutt Valley Dodgers took the final of the Braves Anniversary Weekend tournament over Capital opponent Miramar yesterday, a feat made easier when Miramar pitcher Dave Gollan was ejected early.

Gollan was tossed out of the game after a dispute with umpires. HV Dodgers went ton to win 4-2 in a tournament made notable by the selfless effort of all teams in playing through Saturday's often extremely wet weather.

While the modern ball  is easier to grip in these circumstances, not so many years ago teams would leave the diamond at the slightest precipitation.

Top pitcher  was Hutt Valley Dodger's Jeremy Manley with an era of 1.27, and top batter was Miramar's Wayne Laulu, with a batting average of 0.500.

Results: Miramar (Wgtn) 7 Northcote 1; Miramar 6 Braves (Wanganui) 4; Miramar 8 Huia Chiefs 0; Hutt Valley Dodgers 6 Miramar 4; HV Dodgers 6 Northcote 4; HV Dodgers 14 Huia Chiefs 0; Braves 6 Huia Chiefs 0, Northcote 8 Huia Chiefs 0, HV Dodgers 10 Braves 0, Mirmar 8 Huia Chiefs 0.
